Why Your Dental Practice Should Be On Social Media

Published on

Do you own a dental practice and think that social media would be of no use to your business?

Well, think again.

The world of social media brings with it opportunities that seem endless and the best part about it? It is absolutely free!

Social media can benefit every single type of business, literally. It helps you get your message across to the world.

Now, you may be thinking that because you own a dental practice, and people have to come and physically see you, you are limited to the people you can reach.

Wrong. But more on that later.

There are no two ways about it, in order for businesses to survive in today's tech world, they need to be on social media.

Today, it is hard to imagine a world without the internet and social media.

We use them for everything, from posting pictures to connecting with friends and family, to Google searches. The average user spends around 1.7 hours a day online. That is plenty of time to show them what you have to offer and keep them coming back for more.

According to various studies, people are much more likely to buy from a business that has a strong online social media presence.

So, how can your dental practice benefit from social media?

Global Reach

Social media connects people from all over the world. For example, many influencers and bloggers have been open about their cosmetic surgery. They even film the entire process for their vlogs and platforms.

And guess what? Many of them found their favourite cosmetic surgeon or dentist via social media and flew out specifically for the procedure.

Now, that does not mean that you should sit and wait for an influencer to discover and give you exposure. Feel free to reach out to them and ask to collaborate.

What it does mean, however, is that the more presence you have on social media, the more likely you are to be discovered on a global scale and attract new patients.

Communication & Engagement

Social media is a great way to open different lines of communication with potential new patients. By answering their questions and queries it allows you to build a relationship with new prospects before they even walk through your doors.

For many, visiting the dentist can be a freighting experience. Making them feel comfortable before they visit your clinic will put them at ease and they are more likely to stay with you long-term.

Competitive Edge

There are around 2 billion people on social media. To put it bluntly, if you don't get to them first, your competitors will.

More importantly, social media is fantastic for keeping an eye out on your competition.

You can find out what your competition is doing, then do it better. Or, perhaps you can see what they aren't doing and create some type of promotion or offer that you can present on your social media pages that will set you apart from your competitors.

There is still much scepticism about social media but, the truth is if you want to future-proof your business for years to come, investing in a good social media strategy is 100% worth it.
